Tom Douglas's Summer Camp

I was lucky to have had the opportunity to participate in Tom Douglas's Summer Camp.  I love to cook and when the opportunity opened up that I would get to participate in the week long food intense workshop I was more than thrilled.  Because of my schedule I was only able to attend the first day.  In that day we learned to make pasta, mozzarella cheese, Tibetan sticky buns, beer cocktails, pan gravy, biscuits, de-bone a chicken, and last but not least fried chicken.  Of course we were eating and drinking as we went along.  I joked with a few of the campers that had participated before that I would gain 10 pounds this week.  They responded that they have in the past and that this year they incorporated a workout schedule into the mix for themselves.  This is a truly great time.  Here are some images I took from that day.

Future Shack 2011

The Seattle Chapter of the AIA has posted the Gallery for the 2011 Future Shack.  This program is directed at housing for the future.  It recognizes housing that is showing potential to help shape the way we will or the way we want to live in the future. It does not matter if it's a DADU in an urban setting or a farm house in the country.  Housing needs to keep up with the lifestyles of the individuals living today not yesterday.  This years group was small but had some great work. I can not tell you the recognized projects until they are released in September.  Let's just say you will enjoy the decision.
